Union of Architects of Russia
The all-Russian non-governmental organization ‘Union of Architects of Russia’ is a creative public association of professionals in architecture, urban planning, cultural heritage protection, and architectural studies.
The Union of Architects of Russia comprises 100 regional units and 8 interregional associations of the Union’s organizations. In 2016 at the Union’s Congress Mr. Nikolay Shumakov, Chief Architect of the Metrogiprotrans, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, Professor of the International Academy of Architecture, was elected President of the Union.
Together with the Russian Ministry of Regional Development the Union of Architects of Russia participates in the development of laws related to architecture and urban planning necessary for the harmonious development of cities, towns, and other population clusters of the country. The Union also aims at preserving and promoting architectural and cultural heritage.
An important line of the Union’s activities is the organization of festivals, contests, exhibitions, and other events related to architecture.
